Together with the village women, you cook in their traditional kitchen, discovering the culinary skills of Javanese home cooking and its famed spices. Tempe, corn fritters and lodeh — beloved Indonesian dishes — are prepared as laughter is shared and stories flow naturally.

Following local tradition, the women carry the freshly cooked meal to the rice fields. Walking through the picturesque paddies, you find the men already waiting for lunch, which is enjoyed together in a bamboo hut surrounded by serene nature and the gentle sounds of the countryside. Sharing food is a deeply rooted element of Indonesian culture.

The experience continues with a visit to an after‑school learning centre, where the children enthusiastically teach the basics of Javanese greetings and the alphabet. With infectious energy, they invite you to join their gamelan ensemble.
